Congratulations to President Yun-Han Chu for being elected Academician of The World Academy of Science

President Yun-han Chu was elected to the area of Social and Economic Sciences. He is Distinguished Research Fellow of Institute of Political Science at Academia Sinica and Professor of Political Science at National Taiwan University. He is a three-time recipient of the Outstanding Research Award from Taiwan’s National Science Council, and was also bestowed the University of Minnesota’s Outstanding Achievement Award. His service to the field has included membership on the National Science Council’s Review Committee for research projects in the field of political science, as well as a member of its Advisory Board. President Chu’s area of expertise is East Asian democratization and political economy, and he is on the editorial boards of many of the field’s leading journals, including the Journal of Democracy, Journal of Contemporary China, China Review, China Perspective, and Journal of East Asian Studies. His publications (including co-authored and edited works) include 15 monographs and collections of essays in English and Chinese. President Chu also directs the Asian Barometer Survey, which covers a total of 19 Asian nations, and has gained worldwide scholarly renown as a major international research project.
