Collection of Vietnamese and Chinese Epigraphy
Project Director:A-Tsai Cheng; Institution: National Chung Cheng University
This grant supported the publication of two volumes of epigraphic sources preserved at the Institute of Hán-Nôm Studies (漢喃研究院) in Hanoi. These works date back to Vietnam’s Trần dynasty (陳朝; eleventh to fourteenth centuries), and include data on administrative structures, the imperial household, rural associations, foreign relations, and Buddhism plus Daoism. The Buddhist materials are particularly rich, and can enhance our understanding of the spread of Chinese culture in Southeast Asia, particularly its impact on the institutional, cultural, and social facets of Trần dynasty history.
