Spanish Documents on Taiwanese History

This project featured the study of valuable archival materials on Taiwanese history preserved in Spain, particularly those at the Archivo General de Indias. These documents, which cover the period from 1582 to 1773, included primary sources written in Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch, as well as numerous maps. These works were translated into English and extensively annotated, being published in 2001 by SMC Publishing, Inc under the title Spaniards in Taiwan (2 volumes).
